Dr. Douglas Benner, Chief Medical Officer / Medical Director of EK Health Services, Inc., will be participating as a guest speaker at 33rd Annual Mid-Summer Seminar by the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery (CSIMS). The event, 'Clearing the Way for Smoother Sailing' is being held between June 14-16 at The Westin in Long Beach, CA.
Dr. Benner will be joined in discussion by Steve Cattolica, CSIMS’ Director of Government Relations to discuss the topic of 'What Does URAC Accreditation Really Mean?'. Together, they will focus their discussion on the details and specific requirements of achieving a URAC accreditation, and how it may be the best thing that has happened to California’s workers’ compensation utilization review system – period.
Dr. Benner brings expertise as the top medical executive of EK Health, a leading national workers’ compensation managed care company, and credentials as diplomat of the American Board of Preventative Medicine in Occupational Medicine.
As founding Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California’s Employee Health Services until 2011, which included over 70,000 employees and physicians, Benner was named among “The Most Influential People in California Workers' Compensation” in 2010 by Workers’ Comp Executive.
