EK Health's Dr. Benner to speak at CCWC 2017

Dr. Douglas Benner, Chief Medical Officer / Medical Director of EK Health Services, Inc., will be participating as a special guest speaker at 15th Annual Legislative & Educational Forum hosted by the California Coalition on Workers' Compensation (CCWC). The event is being held between July 12-14 at the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® in Anaheim, CA.

Dr. Benner will be joined in discussion by Rajiv Das, M.D. MPH, Medical Director at Safeway, as well as Roman Kownacki, M.D., MPH, Regional Medical Director for Occupational Health at Kaiser Permanente to discuss the topic of 'Pain Management - New Formularies and Managing Patient Expectations' on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Together, the session will provides guidance for issues that include DWC Formulary implementation from an employer/insurer/URO perspective; expectations from stakeholders - including treating physicians, utilization review organizations, and claims administrators - in its use; and practical considerations such as transitioning/ tapering from non-formulary medications to formulary medications.

Benner brings expertise as the top medical executive of EK Health, a leading national workers’ compensation managed care company, and credentials as diplomat of the American Board of Preventative Medicine in Occupational Medicine.

As founding Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California’s Employee Health Services until 2011, which included over 70,000 employees and physicians, Benner was named among “The Most Influential People in California Workers' Compensation” in 2010 by Workers’ Comp Executive.
